The formal launch of the Mercedes Benz Club of Kenya was hosted on a Saturday afternoon at the Mombasa Road showrooms of D T Dobie – Kenya’s authorized dealer for Mercedes Benz vehicles in Kenya. D T Dobie had turned on the style, displaying an impressive range of their new Mercedes Benz models including a W222 model which caught everyone’s attention. As a special treat, they were also displaying a rare cream vintage Mercedes Benz 300 SL that had a pristine red interior.
An invitation had been sent out to prospective members who owned various Mercedes Benz models and the response was enthusiastic. As an additional surprise, a select number of these vehicles were also included in the showroom. The function was starting at 3 p.m. and guests were directed to the designated parking area and thereafter welcomed to the showroom where there was a sumptuous buffet laid out as well as a wet bar where guests were served refreshments and drinks.
The D T Dobie staff present at the launch were hospitable and very knowledgeable about the vehicles that they had on display, graciously answering all the queries they received from guests in attendance. Common queries were about spares and service solutions that were available to Mercedes Benz owners from D T Dobie. There was a lot of excitement amongst the guests that there was now a Mercedes enthusiast’s club that they could be a part of. All those who were interested to join were invited to pay the subscription fees and a total of 70 individuals formally joined the club that day.
This event was the actualization of a vision that had been shared by a small group of people, whose love for the Mercedes Benz brand had driven them to form this club. Notable amongst this group are the Club President Somo Long, first club Chairman Peter Ireri, Damaris Wanjiku, Guneev Bharj amongst others.
Long live the Mercedes Benz Club of Kenya.
